Goggle Talk

Well Google Talk was released today, and all I can say is it’s a very, very nice Jabber network client. The only problem for me, is that it’s a very nice JABBER NETWORK client. While I’m thrilled that there is now a 800lb gorilla pushing “the Linux of instant messaging”, is a messaging client that only supports one network of any practical value to anyone?

Who knows, maybe this move will be the first step to the Messaging industry settling on a common standard, although the cynic in me says that we’ll sooner see a unified high-capacity next-generation optical disc format.

BTW - If you are looking for a top notch IM client that does support multiple networks, I highly recommend Fire for OSX.
