What I didn’t know this time last year.
I had been struggling with something to make my last post of the year. I wanted to avoid putting together a “best of” list, and there are already too many prediction list on the web for my taste. Luckily I came across this article just a few hours before midnight (Eastern Standard Time). It’s a year end compilation of a weekly BBC article called “10 Things We Didn’t Know This Time Last Week.”
The list itself is at best amusing, but I found the question of “what are the things I didn’t know at this time last year” rather profound.
If I were to compile my own list of 100 things, I’m sure I would be well into the new year by the time I hit publish. Even still, there are many things that come racing to the front of my mind.
- I didn’t know at this time last year that I would be living in Toronto.
- I didn’t know at this time last year that my sister was pregnant, and that I would be an Uncle in 2006.
- I didn’t know at this time last year that I would be making a living working in PR, and not writing code.
- I didn’t know at this time last year that I was going to make a decision that would leave every close friend I have separated by 1200 miles of country side.
- I didn’t know at this time last year that I would not own a car after growing up in the Motor city and owning own since my 16th birthday.
It’s amazing what can happen in a year. Here’s to the past year of things you didn’t know then and wishes that every day of the next year is filled with new things you didn’t know the day before.
