Where “Web 2.0″ goes to die.
According to this map of “Web 2.0″ companies across the globe, my old home city of Minneapolis is a gigantic abscess. Come on Twin Cities, I know someone has got to be working on something there, right? Don’t you find it embarrassing that the area has as many companies in the “Web 2.0″ domain as Lincoln Nebraska? Hell, even Iowa has the interesting looking Side Job Track. I mean guys, Iowa is beating you, Iowa?!?
Let’s not even get into Winnipeg looking down on you, that smug sense of derision, knowing they have a “Web 2.0″ company AND public healthcare. Oh for shame.
Your hospitals are worth flying around the globe for, but your web companies are not even worth traveling across the Internet for? Where’s the company that creates a google.maps mash-up for tracking your new “transplant” heart as it travels across the country? Or how about taking a page from “Web 1.0″ and create a dialog about the future of Johnson and Johnson now that it’s not going to get it’s hand on Medtronic?
I know it’s still hockey season (and Roller Derby ) but let’s face it, the Wild won’t see the play-off’s, and you need to start looking at the long term. Remember what happened the last time you only looked at the short term?
So come on Minnesota, there’s plenty to like about you, but you are really dropping the ball here. Sure ColdFusion is underpinning MySpace, but if that’s the best you’ve got you’ll have to try better. Where’s the Jeremy Allaire for the new generation? How can you pronounce “Web 2.0″ dead, when it hasn’t found it’s way to the home of the Mississippi headwaters? I’m calling you out MN, let’s see you do something about it, punk.
.
“Sure ColdFusion is underpinning MySpace,”
I don’t get it?
.
MySpace is a web 2.0 company.
MySpace looks to me like it’s written in ColdFusion.
ColdFusion was developed by Allaire, who before being aquired by Macromedia was a Minnesota based company.
Oh, I’m assuming you are from a technical background. ColdFusion is a scripting language which allows you to build web application, not the fusion of two atoms. It’s currently owned by Adobe/Macromedia.
.
Oh duh, I just checked out your site. I guess you know what ColdFusion is.
.
Yeah…I know
Just wasn’t sure what you meant…
P.S. myspace is garbage….
.
yeah, I’m no fan either. I know some people on it, so I’ve played around with it, but really don’t understand what the fuss is about. But then I never got the Friendster or Orkut either.
