Curry Flavored Potato Chips
I knew there was some, unforeseeable at the time, reason I moved to Toronto… and last night that reason revealed itself in the form of Lay’s new “Spicy Curry” flavored potato chips.
Several years ago I had the good fortune to happen upon a similar treat while on a junk food binge in London. Unfortunately, despite pleading to the store manager of a local upscale grocer in Minneapolis getting a curry flavored chip in the states seemed like a dead end. Well as they say, if the chip won’t come to you, you go to the chip… I think “they” say that anyway.
So anyway, the chips themselves are pretty good. i would prefer the flavor were on a thicker chip, instead of the typical wispy type Lay is known for, but if you shove 3 or 4 in your mouth at once, you get almost the same impression. The taste is very good, slightly spicy but no where near enough to loosen the sinuses and the aroma is curry all the way.
Lay’s also has released a Wasabi chip and are planning a Shrimp chip in the GTA, but I don’t dig on horseradish or shrimp the way I do curry.
As a side note maybe if this product is successful, Clif will consider bringing back their oh so yummy “Curry Cashew” Mojo bars which in my opinion was the most perfect snack food ever. Of course Even if I’m the only person on earth who seems to have that opinion.
