Ask a stupid kweschun, get a stupid ansir?

Friday, January 20th, 2006

Chris Nolan has dropped Kweschun which he sorta previewed at the last Democamp, and will demo at the next. Kweschun is social polling software. Ask any question, give it a few answers and tags, and you’ll start getting a feel for the opinions of the Kweschun audience.
It’s a bit addictive, and once it’s developed a […]

You can now DELETE mail from GMail!!!

Thursday, January 19th, 2006

First off, big day for Google to have two news-worthy events in one day! Even bigger than thier plot to create a common platform for IM, they have now added a DELETE button to the interface of GMail!

The fact that this is even news worthy is silly, why did it take so long?

Google Talk goes Open Federation.

Wednesday, January 18th, 2006

Google Talk makes first step toward an “Open Federation” for IM. Unless AIM and the others get on board, it’s just wishful thinking, but given Google’s implied interest in working across commodity platforms, they might be willing to put some muscle behind this initiative.

A Basecamp API

Friday, January 6th, 2006

I love Basecamp, but would love to see where it could head with the webs braintrust mashing it into a hodge-podge of places it was never meant to go. I excited to see if this really is a tease for the release of an API to Basecamp.

Beta is the new Black!

Monday, December 26th, 2005

I’m certainly not the first person to remark on the abuse of the “beta” tag on “web 2.0″ applications, and for the most part I’m not bothered by then. I see most beta tags as the equivalent of the “pardon our dust” signs you’ll see in a brick and mortar store during remodeling. For […]

Over at his site Matt Brett has posted Illustrator and Photoshop versions of the Firefox RSS feed icon that has now been standardized by it’s inclusion in the next version of Internet Explorer. This give site developers a chance to customize a version to fit into the design of their site, while still keeping with […]

del.icio.us outage.

Monday, December 19th, 2005

Is it just me, or does anyone else have more tabs open than they care to talk about due to the del.icio.us outage? Someone needs to run an extension cord over from the Yahoo offices!
…oh well, the price is right I guess.

Let the new space race begin!

Saturday, December 17th, 2005

Europe has gone and got themselves a plasma thruster for it this time.
“Essentially the concept exploits a natural phenomenon we see taking place in space,” says Dr Roger Walker of ESA’s Advanced Concepts Team. “When the solar wind, a ‘plasma’ of electrified gas released by the Sun, hits the magnetic field of the Earth, […]

Amazon’s Mechanical Turk

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005

I’m sure I’ll only be one of a few hundred thousand to point out Amazon’s Mechanical Turk, but here goes.
When we think of interfaces between human beings and computers, we usually assume that the human being is the one requesting that a task be completed, and the computer is completing the task and providing the […]

WebOS, The Offline Internet?

Thursday, August 25th, 2005

Over at his blog, Jason Kottke has an interesting write up about the direction Google, Yahoo, Microsoft and Apple could be headed, and he flags one significant hurdle.
“Actually, the biggest potential problems with all this are the massive security concerns (a Web browser that has access to data on your local hard drive?!!!??) and managing […]
